We now have a fully authorised Microlight Flying School on the Isle of Man. Swift Instruction is based at Andreas airfield and has a CAA Qualified Instructor for microlight training in accordance with the BMAA syllabus. On completion of their training students can apply for an NPPL(M) licence. Students can also complete their ground-school training with Swift Instruction and take their examinations at the school. The CFI, Tony Tomlins is also a CAA authorised GR Examiner. For more details fo to the swift instruction website or call 07624 415638.
You may be aware that in 2007 the Isle of Man introduced its own airspace and also issued its own Air Navigation Order. Two key omissions be came apparent - NPPL licenses and UK issued Pemit to Fly were not included. The Association of Manx Flyers has been working with the Isle of Man Civil Aviation Administration to resolve this matter. We are pleased to inform you that two exemptions have been issued to effect that NPPL pilot privileges and UK issed Permit to Fly are now valid in the Isle of Man.
The exemtion orders are available to download.
